New Beneteau Oceanis 62

Beneteau introduce the first model of a new luxury range, the Oceanis Yacht 62.

Aimed at extending it`s world leading cruising boat range into the larger yacht market and also bridging into the style and luxury of the superyacht approach to yachting. Strong hints are given that the Oceanis Yacht 62 is the start of a new large yacht range for Beneteau and that there will be more to follow..

The new 62 stems from Beneteau`s design collaboration between Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design and Italian stylist Pierangelo Andreani. Aimed at combining Berret Racoupeau`s powerful modern chined hull and sailing dynamics with the Italian flair of Andreani who brings the emphasis he has created with Beneteau in the Monte Carlo powerboat range of comfort, luxury and ease of functionality. This seen in the modelling of the stern and transom which opens fully creating a wide platform and revealing a largest in class dinghy garage and also two covered stairways to the deck level, no climbing up ladders for the Oceanis Yacht 62. The dinghy garage is unusual for a yacht of this size, not requiring the dinghy to be rotated or partially deflated which is never as easy as it sounds in the brochures of course.

The Oceanis Yacht has a distinctive and individual style with a modern, sharp profile and giving clear hints at it`s performance credentials.

But this isn`t just a new yacht development, it`s much more than that, it`s also an industrial development aimed at reducing the construction  process and increasing finished quality and use of materials and styling whilst also improving manufacturing efficiency and so capping the cost. Beneteau are world experts at this approach in the 40 ft to 50 ft yacht sector but this hasn`t before been taken into the larger yacht market. With an expectation of achieving price reductions of 150,000 euros to 200,000 euros for full cruising spec boats delivered on the water this is an ambitious and game changing plan at this size range.

Sunbird`s director Simon Limb having spent time with Beneteau`s development team and visiting the boat in build is excited by the dual approach of large yacht luxury, styling and comfort combined with industrialised efficiency to it`s manufacture. "Beneteau are the only yacht builder in the world today with the flair, drive and resources to bring such a multifaceted and game changing new luxury yacht development to the market."

The new Oceanis Yacht 62 will be carrying out it` development trials in June and July and premiered at the Cannes Boat Show in late summer. To get ahead of the game contact Sunbird for further information on info@sunbirdyachts.eu or Tel 01294 607074
